australian currency
editorial design
In this project, I redesigned the currency of Australia.
I felt this redesign was necessary since their current
currency still features Queen Elizabeth II, Dame Mary
Gilmore, and Mary Reibey which I thought were
outdated.
I decided to feature endangered species native to Australia, their habitats, and artwork by the indigenous peoples of Australia. The species I chose for the fronts of the bills are the koala bear, the long-billed curlew, and the sawfish. Each of these animals is well known to the country of Australia and has seen dwindling population numbers in recent years.

Research
To begin this project, I began sketching possible layouts for each bill. I played a lot with the integration between the animals and the information needed on the bills. I continued this process for several iterations until I was satisfied with the result. The art on the back, created by indigenous artists, contains pattern motifs that I continued within the background on the fronts of the bills.
