This week I got some feedback from my wonderful non-designer peers; Jack, Emma, and Katie - who are mostly unfamiliar with design so I could begin to understand how the book would be perceived in a non-artistic format. I had each of them go through three spreads and draw out how their eyes moved across the page and if anything disrupted their reading experience. I found that despite my initial thoughts, the formatting of the book was not too difficult for people to read as just text.
I also designed the front and back covers for the book, which are a kind of mirrored image of one another. It depicts the first scene where Woland meets the poets on the front, and Behemoth smoking a cigar on the back. The Margarita is featured within the moon as well.
